Do you really want to be slim?
We live in a world where it is desirable to be slim. In women's magazines and the world of modeling girls are stick thin and - in my opinion - look quite unhealthy. I am here to help you. I have walked my talk and hope that you will soon be as slim as you want.

There are many benefits to being slim :-

  • You feel more confident
  • You feel sexier
  • You feel healthier
  • You are able to exercise easier
  • You conform to society's image!
  • Your clothes look better
  • You have a greater choice of clothes
  • Your food bill might be less!
  • People view you differently

I don't believe that you are perfectly happy being overweight. I wasn't! If a magic fairy came down and offered to transform you to a size twelve overnight, would you reject this? The old adage of 'You should love me for who and what I am' doesn't really serve well either. Its a cop out. You know it and I know it. I have been a size sixteen - when for most of my life I was a slim twelve - so I know the stories we girls can make up.

For the majority of us there is an emotional attachment to food. When we were children we might have been told

  • Eat up all your dinner
  • If you are a good girl you can have some sweets
  • You have been naughty, you are having no treats today

So do you see the association with food between good and bad?

If we are good [eat food] we will be liked. If we are bad [deprived of nice sweets, chocolate etc] we will not be liked. This is how the brain works. The brain creates new neural pathways every moment of the day, but many are well established and hard to change. Your brain may believe that in order to be loved you have to eat. Sounds crazy doesn't it?

But its the truth and that's a fact.

So how do we break the chain?
Firstly you need to recognise that there is a problem. You have to move yourself out of denial. Let go of the sort of beliefs that are holding you back : -

  • I am big boned
  • Being overweight runs in the family
  • I have a hormone problem
  • I can't exercise
  • I hate exercise
  • I like myself the way I am
  • I don't eat much
  • My metabolism is slow - Increase your metabolism easily - Click Here

You know the excuses. I don't need to remind you. Next time you hear yourself doing this, STOP and say 'There I go again, using the same old excuses'. Then make a commitment to change your neural pathways. It takes time, up to three months to break an old neural pathway. So keep at it!

Affirm to yourself : -

  • I am determined
  • I am worthy of being slim
  • I am gorgeous
  • I am intelligent
  • I can control my impulses simply by recognising them

Ask yourself power questions like: -

  • How can I become slim?
  • How can I lose weight?
  • How can I control my urge to eat the wrong foods?
  • How can I become more confident and happy?

Any question that begins with the word 'how' is a POWER QUESTION

NEVER ask yourself 'why'. This is a disempowering question. It makes you feel like a failure and, at this stage, that is the last thing you need. Write your power questions down each day, and then forget about them. The way the brain works, it will soon start coming up with some answers for you

You WILL master this!

Willpower alone will NEVER EVER assist you in losing weight. I am sorry if you don't want to hear this but its the truth. Willpower can help, but it isn't the bottom line. You have to change your emotional responses to food, and the only way to do that is to become aware of exactly what you are feeling, and exactly what you are doing.

In my commitment to lose weight I tried many things. I joined a slimming group, and I managed to lose a stone. But counting points for my food was never going to be a good system for me to follow on a lifelong journey of weight management. It was simply too restrictive for me.

Hypnosis can work really well.

A close friend of mine is a top hypnotherapist. She helped me a lot! She says 'most people coming to her are seeking an answer to weightloss and, in many cases, hypnosis succeeds where other methods have failed
